About Cyrus.

I was born and raised in Miami Beach, where I had what was probably a normal upbringing, but that was all flipped on it's head when my family spontaneously moved abroad when I was 12. We remained there for 2 years, and in that time I was enrolled in public school, and learned the language by being dropped into the deep end. Being in abroad, to put it bluntly, popped my bubble of ignorance, and I was awakened to a world that wasn't as perfect as I'd thought it was, and showed me some real danger.

When I moved back, I was more involved with politics, and decided I wanted to pursue that for my future. After a year of that, I realized everyone in politics is miserable, and switched to the arts. I attended public high school for a year, then joined my sister and transferred for my Sophomore year to the American Hebrew Academy, a Jewish, International Boarding school where my world was broadened even further. I had amazing teachers and mentors there, not to mention the friendships that shaped me, but unfortunately, the year I attended would be it's last, as it would shut down, and I would return to my original high school, which would then close for COVID 5 months later.

Transferring to Florida State was difficult, but I made great friends, worked on great projects, found a job I was passionate in, and got involved in some great organizations.

At the time of writing, I'm the Vice President of Hillel at FSU, and while I've toned down my involvements for my senior year, I've previously served on the boards of the Film Club, Seminole Innovators, and founded the Comic Book Club along with serving as as senator for Florida State's Student Government.

I was a featured Seminole Innovator, as well as winning a design competition at the Florida State Innovation Hub.

These days while I'm still active in the arts, I've pivoted to a more technical role, whether it's Director or Cinematographer instead of writing, or being a prop master for a production, and I'm constantly on the hunt for new technical innovations that could expand what I'm capable of.

I've enjoyed my time at Florida State greatly, and I'm only at the halfway point.

My Leadership Roles

At Florida State University, Registered Student Organizations (RSO) are student run for the most part, all with diverse missions and goals, but overall seeking to help the campus and local community however we can.

Seminole Innovators

Seminole Innovators is a new RSO that was created to assist students in creating and innovating. We host workshops with experts, and I have personally lead one on wearable 3D printing. At Seminole Innovators, we want to help students with their projects, or get them the help they need to finish theirs, with many areas of focus, including prototyping, app and game development, and more art based ones, like metal casting.

Hillel

I am the Vice President for the Hillel 2024-2025 School year, and have previously served as head of social programming on the board. Hillel at FSU is a Jewish Organization that seeks to help Jewish students by creating a community on campus. We engage in numerous charitable and volunteering events, including bake sales, beach cleanups, and much more. I'm involved in the non religious event planning, focusing on social programming for all students, regardless of their religious affiliation.

Film Club

Film Club thrives on the creativity of it's members, and since I've joined I've been able to experience it firsthand. We have workshops, filmmaking challenges, as well as our film festivals each semester which are always a smash hit. This organization pushes it's already creative members to work with each other to make the best things that they can, and it's worked.

Comic Book Club

I created this club to create a forum for students to talk about comics, as well as learn how to make them. In my search for understanding the making of comics, we've gotten some amazing guest speakers for the club, true legends of the industry who help us understand the process, how they got into the business, all from their unique perspectives. In addition we engage in events across campus, partnering with different groups, including the Askew Student Life Center. The Comic Book Club also raises money for the Christopher Reeve Foundation.
