Film

Blind Faith is a fan film for the Marvel Comics character "Daredevil"

This was my biggest at the time and was truly a passion project in every way. The initial idea for "Blind Faith: A Daredevil Fan Film" in October of 2022, and from there my friend and Co Director, Ethan Vila and I would work on the story. He finished up the screenplay, and I worked as the Producer, getting everything ready.

In February 2023, we had auditions, and immediately it was clear, Trey Becker would be our Matt Murdock, and we worked with a talented fight choreographer, Arden Loftus to get him ready. In the meantime I gathered a 3D scan of Trey, and got to work on the costume, which was a composite of 3D Printing, thrift
shopping, and party city, to create what I felt was a believable costume, at our price point.

The costume was an undertaking, and while I'd previously made costumes, they were existing designs, and for myself. I went thrift shopping, and scoured the web, finding pieces that could reasonably be made into a costume with modification. I additionally 3D Printed, modified, and post processed a few more items to add to the "Comic Book" look I wanted.
When I assembled everything, I sent it to an artist friend, Brandon Guterez, who sketched it all together so I could visualize it, and when I was satisfied, I began assembling.
By this point, we had just finished casting, and I took the measurements for our lead actor, Trey Becker, who would star as Daredevil, as well as took a 3D Scan of his head. I put all of his measurements into Armor Forge, a program for cosplaying, and used the scan of his head to fit a cowl on, and after some trial and error, it came together quite nicely, if not snugly.

Another aspect of the film I was researching was how to portray Daredevil's Radar sense. Working in a 3D Printing lab, I was looking into LiDar raw data, and thought that could be interesting. At the time, I was experimenting with building my own motion capture rig for another project, and I built an inexpensive rig with an XBox Kinect, and while I had to pause that project, I learned that the raw data the Kinect inputs is based on depth, and would look very similar to the Daredevil Radar sense. As a result, when we filmed some scenes, we had the Kinect Rig accompanying the camera to capture the data, and while it may not be used in the final product, it was an interesting research venture.

Overall, being a massive fan of the character, I was lucky to find others who shared my passion, and we made something that I'm truly proud of. The trailer premiered in our University's Theater in April 2023, and will release in the fall.
